I was at the Post Office last Monday, at 8:15 in the morning. I was on my way to the Land Registration Authority (again) to do some work for the office, but I was early so I decided to stop by the Post Office first and drop off my mail.
I chose the counter closest to the entrance... which turned out to be the metered stamps counter. As soon as I got there, I saw a little old man turn away from the counter and walk off. He was clutching a bundle of letters in his hands.
When he left, the lady in front of me asked the lady at the counter, "Bakit daw?" The counter lady answered, "Di raw kasi stamps eh. Kelangan daw stamps."
"Bakit, kasi Valentine's?"
"Oo ata."
Awwww. I like to think that he didn't want his love letters to bear the corny normal metered stamp stickers. There really is something rather romantic about receiving a letter from far away with a beautiful stamp on the envolope. Well, okay, maybe I'm the only one who finds it romantic. :)
The lady in front of me kept talking to the lady at the counter while my mail was being weighed. She was asking when the mail would arrive. She was quite concerned about the mail arriving in time for Valentine's. I guess she sent a Valentine, too :)
Apparently, people really do send Valentine cards two weeks in advance so that their loved ones can get them on time!
Ay. Cute :)
I want something like that. I want to be 40 (which is how old the lady looked) and wondering if my future husband will get his Valentine on time. I want to be 70 (which is how old the lolo with the letters looked) and still lining up at the post office at 8:15 in the morning to send love letters -- even if the recepient happens to be my husband who stays at the same house I'm living in :) I want I want I want. :)
It was a nice way to start the week, knowing there are people in love who haven't let romance die.
Girls, naluha nga ako pag labas ko ng post office eh. Nuuy. Exag. Sweet kasi. Pag nakita niyo si Lolo, ma touch talaga kayo, kasi ang tanda niya na talaga. Yun lang :)
oh man. i remember that commercial well. i can sing the song in my head and can picture the lolo's face, how he danced with the little girl when the commercial faded out.
