Of all days to NOT have a camera, it had to be the first day I went skating at UP. Boohoo! :(
I haven't gone to UP Diliman on a Sunday since I was a senior in Biology, watering my mongo seedlings for a plant physiology experiment. Since I didn't have anything to do today (yay) and parent was still in Negros, I decided to bring my David to UP Diliman to do a bit of skating.
Unfortunately, when I got there, the acad oval was wet. Sigh. I don't like skating on wet ground because my feet get dirty, hence, my board gets dirty. And water makes metal rust. But since I had driven all the way to Diliman from Paranaque, I decided to just skate at the Malcolm Hall parking lot since it was a bit drier -- the oval was really soaked! And nobody was there to make me feel self conscious. Hehe. But first, I spent a good 20 minutes whining to Sir Sol about the lack of direction in my life. When quarter life crisis hits, it hits hard. Urg. By the time I finished whining, the ground was relatively drier :)
I still suck at skating, but at least I'm getting better. And at least I have a bit more poise now when I get on and off my board =)) I love love LOVE my Vanguard :) Al was there, and I let him try out my David. He told me he didn't know how to skate but he was carving! Tss! Maybe men are just natural at skateboarding? Or I'm probably just really lampa.
I can't wait to try out the Acad Oval on a Sunday when it's dry :) It's got a lot of space for carving, and it's smooth enough that I don't have to worry about hitting rocks or cracks in the road that will cause me to fly off my board. It's also got gentle inclines... perfect for a beginner like me who still bails when my board goes faster than running pace. Hahaha.
It was a good Sunday. Now I'm going to douse myself in efficascent oil and go to bed. Golly, I'm tired.

|  | We didn't win overall first place but we still bagged a whole lot of medals! :) FEU was overall first, with UST and Ateneo coming in second and third respectively.
It was a record breaking season for UAAP Track and Field. Almost every event ata, may new record! Javier set the new record for the decathlon with 5,971 points. And he broke the record for Javelin with 60.66 meters... the record was set 45 years ago with 57.96 meters. :D
Watching Track and Field is an interesting way for a sedentary person to spend a Sunday afternoon. Dami nga lang boys in short shorts and cycling shorts. Traumatizing. HAHAHAHA! :)

Pero okay lang... wala naman Eheads eh. If the Eheads were there, it would have been unforgivable to miss the celebration. But they weren't. So I can still forgive myself and say, "Sa next event na lang."
PLEASE let that next event be a UP concert with the Eraserheads as one of the main acts. Please Please Please. How can there be a UP celebration without one of the best bands UP has ever produced?!

I think every UP student has to have a shot with Oble. So, I had mine taken before I left. Hehe. 8 and a half years in UP.
Di man lang naka-tikim ng Final Four. Bitter pa rin. Haha :P At least champions ulit sa Cheer Dancing :D

Studying can be a bit boring. Ok, it can get a lot boring. So I went to the College of Science today to ask how I can get my diploma... and was thoroughly surprised at how much everything had changed. But... it still felt like coming home... Hehe. I suppose I will be a Scientist at heart for the rest of my days. But dear Lord, please let me be a lawyer by profession this 2008...  The College of Science lobby. Isn't it pretty? In my day, there weren't any benches to sit on. Too bad it's too hot to hang out there. Oh well.
 Couldn't believe this is what the Science Complex Park looks like now! The trees are so tall and thick! Parang middle earth! And to think we used to collect specimen samples from the tiny creek that runs through it. Haha. I wanted to skip down the lane but djahe naman. So I compromised and bounced instead. Hehehe :P Someday, when nobody is watching, I'm going to skip down that winding path...
 The NEW Institute of Physics building. Which I never got to see. Boohoo. Madaya ang mga estudyante ngayon. Ganda ng building nila. Hmph.
 Javier and his home away from home... the Math building. Or the National Institute of Math Building. Talo pa nila ang Bio... Institute lang kami. There I agonized over my stupid exams and got some of the lowest grades of my college life. Hay. My highest math grade was a 2.25! GAH!!! Stupid 50s series.

A third of the class showed up to visit our Lady of Manaoag, who was visiting Roch's parish at Fairview.
Lots of fun,
lots of laughs,
lots of bar talk (sigh),
lots of prayers (I think I just wrote the longest petition I've ever written in my whole life), and
lots of food after (Sisig Festival rocks. Or is it Sizzling Festival? Anyways. Basta dun. Thanks Roch!)

Maaga akong natapos mag-aral ng Crim 1 kanina, kaya naisipan kong magbasa ng dyaryo. Pag buklat ko ng Sports Page (oo, nagbabasa ako nun. Law, Mai, Javier, wag kayong tumawa!) nakita kong ZERO nanaman ang panalo ng UP Fighting Maroons basket ball team sa UAAP. Walong taon din akong nag-aral sa UP. Walong taong umasa na sana, umabot naman kami ng Final Four. Pero wala. Sabi ko kay Lord noong nag-uumpisa ako ng ika-apat na taon sa UPLaw, sana mag final four naman kami ngayong taon. Last year ko na, Lord! Bigo talaga. Pero mas gusto kong isipin na ang sagot talaga sa akin ni God ay "Wag muna..." Habang nagmumuni-muni ako at iniisip ko kung mag-iiba na ba ang sagot sa akin ni God ngayong taon na ito, napa-isip ako... Ano nga ba ang maroon? Noong college ako, pinanood ko ang opening ng UAAP sa tv. Nakita ko yung mga float (ano ba tawag nun sa tagalog?) na ginawa ng iba't-ibang paaralan. Yung sa Ateneo, may blue eagle. Yung sa La Salle, may green archer. Ang float ng FEU, may tamaraw. Akala ko, makikita ko na kung ano ang maroon. Nang linabas nila ang float ng UP ang nakita ko ay... Isang malaking paper-mache na basketball player, ang shorts niya nasa paanan niya, at may hawak na bola na tumatago sa kanyang alam niyo na. Yun ba ang maroon??? Naisipan kong hanapin kung ano nga ba ang maroon. Alam ko, kulay ito. Pero bakit naman ipapangalan ng UP sa kanilang varsity team ang pangalan ng kulay? Sabi sa Wikipedia: "The word Maroon comes from the Spanish word cimarron which means wild: untamed. They were slaves who either ran away from or were released by the Spanish before the English invaded Jamaica in 1655. They were successful in retaining their independence after 150 years of slavery by constantly defending their freedom. Their settlements were small, not more than 2,000 strong, but they fought as if they were in greater numbers.The use of the term embodies the spirit of students of the University to "escape" from the status quo, by trying to bring it to a state of betterment. Sana mag over all champion tayo ulit! Kayang-kaya naman ng UP eh. Pangalan pa lang, panalo na. Yun lang. Bow. P.S. Napagod ako kakasulat sa tagalog. Trying hard kasi eh. Haha :P I thought it was a rather decent attempt considering I hadn't written anything in Filipino since I was 17...

 I learned something new the other day... Apparently, the model for the original Oblation statue is NOT Fernando Poe, Sr. -- which is what every UP student I know has been told. It was actually modeled after Anastacio T. Caedo, the student apprentice of Oble sculptor Guillermo Tolentino. If you don't believe me, it's in Citiguide Metro Manila (thanks, Mike!) and in http://www.answers.com/topic/u-p-oblation.(Picture shows me and my classmates on graduation day, right in front of the Oble)
